Circling From Above, by Jon Diaz.
This all-acoustic project has strong elements of North African, Asian, classical and even some funky grooves thrown in. Jon plays acoustic, fretless & prepared guitars as well as berimbau on the recording and is joined by some of New York's finest musicians: Pietro Russino guitar, Vera Beren voice, Queen Esther voice, Mathias Kunzli percussion, Bill Buchen percussion, Steve Gorn bansuri flute, Rob Curto accordion, Mazz Swift violin, Dorothy Lawson 'cello, Andy Mckee bass and John Kilgore ambient piano.
Jon co-produced Circling From Above with producer/engineer John Kilgore. "John brought an important element to the recording, having worked with everyone from DNA to Steve Reich and Mark Ribot," says Diaz. The project was recorded at John Kilgore Sound & Recording in NYC.
